Breakfast and Art Class

Breakfast was an interesting experience this morning. Usually he uses the spoon and sticks to it, but today he decided to really dig in...with his hands.

We started an Art class at Gymboree. The first day G cried and wanted to go play in the play area. He was not thrilled to be in the back room away from all the fun slides and ladders. After he settled down he really started to enjoy the art class.

He was really into the play dough, so much so that I pulled out his bucket of play dough for home. His favorite thing to do is to pull off pieces from a large ball of play dough. He has started to copy me and roll the play dough in his hands to make a ball. He also enjoys putting it back in the can and keeping the different colors separate.

In other art news, he used to like crayons, but now prefers markers. He likes taking the cap off and putting it on. I think he enjoys playing with the cap more than coloring with the marker. I think he's going to love playing with the easel his Grandma got him.

Dave titled this photo "Adrienne" because he thinks G looks like Rocky. haha

You should see the other guy....

Well Gigantor has TWO fat lips now. He looks like he got into a big fight. This morning he bit his upper lip when he fell off a chair at the paint store. This kid must have razor blades on the end of his teeth or something.

Smile, you have a fat lip!

Today G learned to smile on command. Of course it's not a pretty smile, it's a CHEESEY CHEESE smile (see the last picture). He always giggles after performing his cheesey smile as if he knows how silly he looks.

Today we took Dad to the doctor since he's sick with some kind of nasty flu-like thing. He had oodles of fun taking scraps of paper and throwing it in the trash can. He even took pieces of his snack that had fallen on the floor and put them in the trash can. I thought for sure he would sneak them in his mouth, but he followed through like a champ! He also took a dirty shirt from the kitchen and put it in his room like I asked. (The night before he drank from a cup and spilled all the water down the front of his shirt and started screaming so the rest of the night he ran around bare chested -- thus the shirt on the kitchen floor. He liked pinching his fat and slapping his chest. If only simple amusement like that lasted all day!)

And now the story of the fat lip. After Skyping with Grandma and Grandpa G got into his hyper HYPER mood which means it's time for bed. I told him it was time for a bath and he proceeded to high tail it away from me. Next thing I know he trips, falls on the floor with a big thud, screams and blood in the mouth! I was scared he knocked out a tooth, but he just bit his lip. It was bleeding a lot, but he downed some Motrin, had some milk and went off to bed. He definitely has a huge bottom lip though. Sorry no pictures, but I'm sure it'll be there tomorrow.

I see London, I see France....

I see Ethan's molars! He has his second set of bottom molars coming in! Hopefully that's why he's been so crotchety, but I have a feeling that's just his glowing personality. At least I have hope these new (but familiar) 6am wake up calls will go away once those babies are through! Of course there is the top set to look forward to. Why can't kids' teeth come in all at once so both of us can get through the pains of teething quicker!

Cucumbers and Daycare

He likes cucumbers! I was eating a bunch of mini cucumbers with hot sauce and he wanted to try it. He wasn't a fan of the hot sauce, but he liked the cucumber. Technically it's a fruit, but it's green so that's progress as far as I'm concerned. He has been on a vegetable strike for a couple of months.

We made it to the gym again today, but this time I was planning to stay with him the whole time to get him used to the daycare. As soon as we stepped foot inside the daycare he started screaming! It took me 10 minutes to calm him down! After that he was doing really well playing with toys and watching the other kids. It was kind of crazy though because there was one lady and I counted 24 kids! I imagine it's going to take a while for me to actually get the chance to work out, but at least he had a positive experience today.

While Dada is away....

Every time my cell phone rings G says "Dada dada". Whenever he passes Dave's truck he says "Dada". Sometimes at night he'll walk over to the front door and point and say "Dada". I think he misses Dave and is wondering where he is hiding.

Of course anytime I say "Daddy", Oskar goes nuts trying to find him. Oskar is on high alert at night waiting for him to come home, barking at anything and everything. Luckily in a couple of days they will both find him.

Sailing in the New Year

Today, in the middle of winter we went sailing. It's G's second time sailing and he did very well considering we were out for 6 hours. Of course there was a bathroom break and a playground break and a sunbutter and jelly sandwich break.

He enjoyed being at the helm in control of the boat. He had some issues with the direction his Uncle Matt was taking the boat, so he took charge. Aboard the boat he enjoyed his sandwich, a few laps with his garbage truck below deck, and looking at the birds, boats, and kites.

Preparing to board. Grandpa is in the back preparing the boat.

Sporting his life jacket.
Enjoying his own seat. Mom and Dad's lap is just not cool anymore.
Tightening up the jib sheet.

Trying to correct Uncle Matt's course.
